Agrarian Discontent in Late Nineteenth Century

At the end of the nineteenth century, in the late nineteenth century, American farmers faced many problems. Many farm workers are unemployed due to industrialization of the farm. Many farmers began planting large amounts of crops, which has led to deflation. This means destruction for many farmers. It is because they have to repay debts due to land and machinery. Railways, enterprises and processors are exacerbating the situation by systematizing and regulating the price of crops.

Several economist historians believe that the economic instability of American agriculture is the main cause of agriculture dissatisfaction in the late nineteenth century. This paper carried out rigorous analysis of the problem and proposed estimation of agricultural economic instability and evidence of agricultural anxiety location and intensity in 14 northern states from 1866 to 1909. My statistics are testing the relationship between the two. The result strongly suggests that agricultural turmoil in the second half of the 19th century is directly related to the economic instability of the country. This conclusion applies to the last third of the whole century and several subperiods.
