February 14, 2018 celebrates the 200th birthday of Frederic Douglas' birth. As a slave to Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey born in Maryland, he ran away as a young man and named Douglas. He published several books including his first autobiography, "the story of life in Frederick Douglas."

Douglas has become a speaker and leader of exercise abolition. He also insists on equal rights for everyone. He took part in the Seneca Falls Conference in 1848 and he and his family insisted on women's suffrage

During the Civil War, the two sons of Douglas went to Massachusetts to join the 54th Infantry Regiment. Charles Douglas moved to Massachusetts' 5th Cavalry, and Lewis Douglas was sergeant 54 and injured in attack at Wagnerborg.

After the end of the civil war, Frederick Douglas was appointed vice president from the equality party and was appointed many political positions including Haitian Minister of 1889 and Secretary.
