Her story includes her life's attempts and sufferings in the South during the rise of the civil rights movement. As living in this period included isolation, the lives of African Americans were rough. As an African-American woman raised in the civil rights movement, Moody's has a unique story about the work and race consciousness that emerged during this period.
Moody 's autobiography "The arrival of the Mississippi era" (1968) was praised for being faithful to the lives of young African Americans before and during the civil rights movement of the 1960' s. Her point of view about the rural life in Mississippi is unique, but not uncommon. Moody grew up in her family and her mother would suppress questioning things or separating ideas. This book has been published in seven languages and sold all over the world. In 1972, Moody's was an artist living in Berlin.
