Advertisements that Glorify Violence Against Women

Although advertisers have countless subtle ways to display advertisements to sell products, many of these advertisements may go far beyond the scope of the product. Advertisements about violent scenes against women may actually transmit potential information on violent behavior. When you look at these ads it is not difficult to understand that the meaning behind them is far deeper than simply selling the product. Through sexual ads and violent advertisements it is even possible to post claims that rape, sexual violence and violence are prosperous in society surviving.

As a victim of violence, I studied the image of violence against women in advertisement with the aim of identifying advertiser's awareness about the degree of implicit violence against women in certain sponsored advertisements. To the potential impact, they are motivated to post advertisements. A detailed telephone interview with 13 spokespersons responsible for advertising violence against women in the past 10 years was held. Respondents were asked about target audience, the type of response expected, the implied violence to women on advertising, the impact of advertisement on sales, and the use of market research. The discussion focused on 12 print advertisements and television commercials published between 1975 and 1985. As a result, I found that more than twice the advertisement is targeting women and men. The American lobbying group "oppose porn women" is concerned about the sexual image of women depicted in advertisements and the influence of such images on women's sexual violence. The group has set up an annual compensation program to admire and condemn advertisements with or without gender discrimination. In 1983, Jockey, a company known primarily for men's underwear collection, launched the "Horse for Her" campaign (Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis). This brand soon succeeded, became the most popular female underwear brand in the United States within five years, occupied 40% of the market.

Women who are advertising are explained as victims of violence and sexuality, and we know that women influence the way society treats. Americans encounter advertisements in almost every aspect of everyday life. Commercial advertisements, signs, movies, clothes, etc. are all formats in which companies and people will publicly publish their names and images. Because advertisements are an important part of life, ideas and ethics presented by them are thought to have a big impact on society. Negative explanations such as sexual objectivity, stereotypes, violence against women are frequently explained in advertisements and media.
