The National Arts Foundation is an independent agency funded by the federal government to support many artists throughout the United States. Since its establishment in 1965, it has awarded artists awards and has brought benefits to thousands of individuals and communities. Over the years NEA has awarded more than $ 4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity and innovation.
When some years ago the New York Times called Kickstarter "the People's NEA", we thought we were somehow against NEA - a potential alternative to Federal funded art. It is totally different. Kickstarter is a mission-oriented nonprofit organization for artists to live a sustainable life. It means that the diversity of fund sources is more likely to be created by creators.
