Active Studies Seeking Participants

Is there loss or difference in upper limbs? Do you want to participate in research on missing or differing upper limbs? Researchers at the Providence VA Medical Center need your help!

Researchers at the Providence VA Medical Center, led by Dr. Linda Resnik, are currently recruiting missing or different people for two types of research activities.

1) Interviews and surveys for women: Most studies on upper limb prostheses are targeted to men. I can not hear the voice of a woman! To better understand the perception of women's prosthesis use, to develop best practices to capture women's concerns and priorities, and to provide information to help design better prostheses, I am looking for a lacking woman.

2) Individual learning by prosthetic appliances users: We are seeking face-to-face learning activities for men and women lacking upper limbs and limbs. We need your help to make it the greatest study of upper extremity prosthetic devices, control and hanging methods.

This study will provide evidence to help consumers and clinicians make informed choices about upper extremity prosthetic devices. It also provides comparative data that can be used to evaluate the advantages of the new technology. Our results will be useful for third-party payers of the limb amputee community, as well as searching for evidence of the benefits of new and more expensive technologies.

If you are entitled to and interested in participating in our research, you should contact me to participate in research and testing to understand your ability to use your prosthesis for daily activities I will go to one of our five research centers.

Participation in the study included two visits, about one year apart. It takes about 3 hours for local learning activities

Several studies seek to study participants with disease or condition in clinical trials, others need healthy volunteers. Inclusion and exclusion criteria are not used to deny individuals. Instead, this standard is used to identify appropriate participants, ensure safety, and ensure that researchers can find the new information they need.
