Effects of acid rain on the environment Acid rain can damage limestone buildings. Scientists are worried that increased air pollution may lead to increased acid concentrations in rainwater. In such a case, it will increase the damage caused to limestone buildings. When burning fuel it causes acid rain. Burning these fuels creates a gas called sulfur dioxide. This gas enters the air. Sulfur dioxide reacts with oxygen and then melts the underlying raindrops.

Acid rain has a big impact on our environment. Forests, soils, lakes, streams, rivers, materials are basically human beings. One of the most serious effects of acid rain on our environment is acid rain to trees and soil. When sulfuric acid falls to the ground in the rain, nutrients in the soil are washed away. Some of the aluminum present in the soil is also released and may be absorbed by the roots. Because important nutrients such as calcium and magnesium are depleted, this will deplete trees. Sulfur dioxide may not be converted to sulfuric acid. In fact, there are a large number of substances that float in the atmosphere and can return to the earth without conversion. But when the gas returns to the earth it blocks the pores of the leaves and prevents photosynthesis. Acid rain is the main cause of deforestation and other environmental harms.
