Achieving Stable Enrollment: Universal Primary Education

The biggest challenge facing the second largest Millennium Development Goal is to achieve and maintain a stable enrollment rate. The second Millennium Development Goal is focused on achieving universal primary education. Since so many children are not involved, they have no opportunity to escape from poverty. As more children enroll and eventually finish studying, they will understand the benefits of school education and encourage others, especially their own children. This will also give them a competitive advantage over children who do not receive much school education.

The overall picture of African education is ongoing progress and constant challenge. According to the "Report on the Present Status of African Education 2015" issued by the African-American Association, African countries do not have universal primary education, but between 1990 and 2012 children of enrolled in elementary school The number has more than doubled. However, the ratio of the average number of students and the number of faculty members in elementary school in 2012 is 42 to 1, which has not changed since 1999. In higher education, the number of entrants has more than doubled between 2000 and 2010. The number of students per professor at a university in Africa has increased to 50% of the world average.

Goal 2 is to achieve universal primary education in developing countries. With regard to the Millennium Development Goals to achieve universal primary education, Sub-Saharan Africa is making further progress by endeavoring to increase the number of enrollees more than any other region. Despite improvements, about half of the preschool children live in sub-Saharan Africa, most of them are excluded from education, and most people will not enter the classroom. The second purpose of the Millennium Summit was to promote equality and social participation and achieve universal primary education to reduce extreme poverty. Since 2000, more children around the world have entered primary school through domestic and international efforts and the Millennium Development Goals Campaign. In developing regions, the net enrollment rate of children in elementary school age rose from 82% to 90% between 1999 and 2010. In 2010, the enrollment rate of elementary school in sub-Saharan Africa was 76%, an increase of 18%. Until 2010
