Accountability of Nursing Professionals When Implementing Evidence Based Practice

Accountability means "to be responsible for your actions". The National Association of Nurses (ANA) states that nurses are responsible for personal care decisions and behaviors in their code. Specialized nurses are responsible for several aspects, including the public, customers, occupations, employers, and self-responsibility (Hood, 2010, p. 307). All professional nurses are responsible for working within their clinic to provide the best care for their patients. Nurses need to be fully aware of their responsibilities in specific practice areas.

Responsibility is an integral part of occupational practice. The nurse makes judgment in various situations. Nurses use their expertise, judgment, and skills to make decisions based on best practices and evidence of personal best interests, and they can indicate the decisions they made It must be (NMC 2008a). Accountability can not be thought alone. Other terms such as "autonomy", "responsibility", "authority" must also be considered (Dewar 1999). Walsh (1997) suggests that there should be a clear distinction between responsibility and responsibility in nursing practice. He continued saying that accountability involves sound expertise and interpretation and proving behavior based on transparent, logical and reproducible decisions. Likewise, he believes that the traditional sense of responsibility means to authorize tasks accurately and timely through approval.

The authority of nursing practices is based on professional rights and responsibilities, and social contracts that describe public accountability mechanisms. In almost all countries, nursing care activities are regulated and managed by law, and entry into occupation is managed at national or state level. The goal of the global healthcare community is to ensure that professionals can provide quality care to everyone while continuing education while maintaining qualifications, ethics, standards and abilities. There are many educational pathways to become professional nurses, which are quite different all over the world; all of them involve extensive research on nursing theory and practice and training of clinical skills.
