About Voting Matters

Voting began by Alameda County Public Health Legislative Committee in early 2016 and the participation of voters increased among residents of Alameda County, especially residents of historically disadvantaged areas.

Your health is not just about health management. Research shows increasingly that health is affected by our living conditions and experience. Policy - The law passed by our government representatives and our representatives' choice about how we use our taxes - formed our living conditions and experience. Housing, education, employment opportunities, economic opportunities, as well as urban design will have a major impact on our ability to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

Your voice is your strength. We use our own voice to express our own faith. We share experiences and build communities with each other. We speak in the face of fraud and inequality. We will communicate the resources we need to make the community sound and powerful.

Your vote is very important. Voting is one of the most important ways to hear our voice and the voices of our community. When we vote, we choose who we are representing and our values ​​at all government levels. We tell our representatives what we need to be safe, healthy and happy. We will bear the responsibility to fulfill our promise to the elected officials. Usually, we decide our own policy and decide how we distribute the laws and public resources we want to live to our community.

Alameda County Public Health Department knows that a healthy community is a voting community. That is why Voting Matters is committed to helping improve the health of residents of Alameda County by considering important issues and voting on November 6, 2018.
