"Heroes of the world" is a reader designed for students who just completed an introductory course of ancient Greek language and want to read a substantive passage of the original text of an ancient writer. It introduces the three most important writers of ancient Greece, Homer, Herodotus and Sophocles, and includes exciting and influential things like Thermopylae's battle (history from Herodotus). The story; Death of Hector and the depravity of Edepus. The notes attached to each paragraph provide a large amount of vocabulary and translation assistance, and each section contains a brief introduction to the author and his work. The first edition of this book has been very successful for students and teachers for over 30 years. This is the second edition containing the same text as the first edition but provides more help to translate and understand them to better meet the needs of contemporary students.
