We are all talking about where we came from, our parents came from them and their parents. Every aspect gives us a variety of perspectives and dreams that shape the people we have today and shape our lives. I am one of the six children raised by a single mother of the lower working class. I am the second child and the biggest daughter, the first person to enter high school is a Catholic, she believed in welfare and forced to live alone when she was 17 years old. Today, I am a 22 year old college student, married, an authorized nurse assistant, an ambitious doctor.
The world of Western Europe is the world that the former generation has been trying to build and defend, and now faced the crisis of identity and purpose. This is my world. I grew up in the Netherlands, Italy and the United States and studied at a university in the UK. I eventually moved to the United States, married, made my family, became an American citizen. I am an immigrant. As a representative of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, I am honored to be back in Europe.
David Brooks, a columnist in the New York era, is now famous for Paninimen, has been complaining about the "Western civilization crisis" for 20 years, and claims that it is destroying our identity. It is an interesting question how how it forms our identity. In most cases, this identity is thought to be formed by studying the foundation of Western civilization - classics. He insists that this type of education creates common cultural values and shared vocabulary. The story of this Western civilization has certain value about the importance of rational discourse, the importance of property rights, and the necessity of public plaza. Religious information is not absurd. It is the standard of great politicians style. It gives different people a common sense of mission and common vocabulary, establishes a framework in which political discussion can occur, and most importantly provides a set of common goals.
Identity The double identity theory of Farhad Khosrokhavar and Olivier Roy suggests that Western Muslims, usually second or third generation immigrants, harmonize their Western identity with their citizens 'or citizens' identity I assert that I can not.
