I am a ninth grader and I read Charles Dickens' book on the story of two cities, but surprisingly it became the second most popular novel in my history. It is a pleasing reason to be able to get this highly acclaimed movie version with a wonderful cast, with a starring on my favorite literary person starring Ronald Coleman.
I compare this movie very strongly with novels, so I am a bit biased. Fortunately, this movie does not betray expectations - this is wonderful. They have to cut a lot of content in the novel, otherwise the movie will continue to play, but they keep an important scene and keep the essence of the Dickens classic. They also found the correct balance between our heroes in London, Lucy Mannett, Charles Dahney, Matthews and Sydney Carton (and others), as well as materials from Paris' deharge and other farmers It was. They are not bore it, they are boring and not bustling
As I said, actors are ideal, but I will mention the most prominent actors. Elizabeth Allen got Lucy to make me laugh. Lucy is the most awkward and fragile person in the world - Lucy does not do that much, but the real personality and entity. As Mme, Blanche Yurka is perfect. To counter it; she is cold and awful, you can sympathize with her and I do not think she is confused too much. Edna May Oliver is a pleasure of Mispros and captures the appearance of Mannet's seemingly strict but warm maid.
However, the movie that I truly judged is my dream boyfriend, Kaden. Ronald Coleman is impeccable as an unlikely hero. He got a different "side" of the carton - in a drunk, arrogant, clever scene, and in the calm and romantic next scene. The movie version also adds more humor to the carton that matches his personality. (He seems not to be in the novel with a flirting scene with Miss Pros, but it is one of my favorites.) Sydney Caton's unselfish sacrifice (and his comfort to the frightened needle) is very It was moving. well done
My only true qualifying is that my surprising thing is that Charles Dernie (Donald Woods) and Sydney Carden do not look alike. Darnay has a more distinct personality, and carton ... Oh, Ronald Colman sometimes has these beautiful brown eyes showing him a dog. Okay - this movie should be very similar. Also, how easy is it to cast doppleganger?
In general, you probably like this movie if you read "The Story of Two Cities". If you have not read this book yet, you may still prefer it. Either way, I highly recommend it
