Since World War II, raisins in Hansbury's creativity of the sun have played an important role in the development of African-American dramas. "Raisin in the sun" is the first work by African-American writers, broadcast on Broadway, highly appreciated by New York drama critics. "A drama of raisins in the sun" (1959) brought Hans Berry to the New York Critics Award and it became the best show of the year. In a raising opposition play "sun raisin" under the sun, playwright Lorraine Hansberry depicts the life of a poor African-American family living in southern Chicago.
