A Personal–Professional Experience of Losing My Home to Wildfire: Linking Personal Experience with the Professional Literature

This article reports on the author's personal experience of losing forest fires in the house. This article is a self-narrative case study. The author uses the raw data of 400,076 words in the text of her blog and covers from fire night (June 28, 2012) until two years and three months (September 2014) after the fire. We selected 13 topics based on frequency (> 10%, n = 7) and significance (n = 6). This result reflects existing literature on disaster recovery. Over 10% of topics are included: existence and guilt caused by victim's accusation, overwhelming emotional and logistical aspects of property damage, concern about economic and financial problems, "normal" The necessity to understand recovery trajectory, the mutual relationship between community and individual Forcing self redefinition and recognizing its closure is an elusive multifaceted importance.
