Non religious contract in the United States Today, religious standards of Americans plummeted to new low standards. The number of people who attended the church earlier this century was small. Even without going to the pastor, many people marry by having the judge marry them. Divorce is increasing steadily. Today's society accepts homosexuals. The question is whether to allow gays to get married. I know? This is not really a government issue. The United States can no longer deny that gay citizens have the right to legal marriage.
