This paper presented a new algorithm to distinguish the age group from the frontal face image. This algorithm classifies topics into four different age categories at four major stages. Preprocessing, facial feature extraction by new projection method, facial feature analysis, and age classification. In order to apply the algorithm to this problem, a facial image database that focuses on the age information of a person is necessary. Since there is no such database, I created a database called Iranian Face Database (IFDB) for this purpose.

Face recognition algorithms can be categorized into image based face recognition algorithms and video based face recognition algorithms. Both types can use some common algorithms to perform face recognition processes.
