A House Divided (2000)

Based on a true story, this historical drama was created in Georgia in the mid-19th century. David Dickson (Sam Waterston) has a large farm and a slave who works for labor. Dixon found himself fascinated by a smart boy named Lisa Gay Hamilton, a new slave; Dixon raped Julia and after nine months she gave birth to her daughter, Amanda. Because Amanda has a color on the skin and can wear white, Dixon treats her as a daughter, does not admit that Julia is a mother, and talks that Amanda's mother died while giving birth. After Amanda (now played by Jennifer Beals) became an adult, Dickson died and left her all heritage to her. But Dixon's brother Henry (Ron White) knew the truth about the heritage of Amanda and questioned his will in court; a lawyer named Charles Dubos (Tim Daley) agreed to represent him in the courtroom. Amanda is a dirty secret of the public court as the Dixon family. Sam Waterston was a co-producer and actor of A House Divided (and first aired) produced by Showtime's advanced cable network.

The 2000 television movie "A House Divided" is based on Kent Anderson's nonfiction "Woman's color, a woman with privilege: Amanda Dixon" (1849-1893), a mixed-lady woman in the south. His mother is a mother. When a slave her wealthy white father tried to hand her her property to her, the family challenged his white relative to ask them to dominate the estate. They quote local laws which prohibit blacks from possessing property (legally, the definition of a young lady is the slave status and racial status of her mother). Amanda Dixon succeeded in inheriting his father's property

Lincoln 's House Split Lecture: The "House Split" speech was a 1858 Republican speech before the State Council of Springfield, Illinois. It warns people that "self-divisive houses can not be built" and refers to slavery issues. Lincoln predicted in the speech that slaves would eventually become free. Freeportism: "freeportism" by Stephen Douglas points out that the elimination of slavery in a region may be decided by voters who refuse to establish a law to protect slavery. In 1858, the Southern people refused this doctrine because they did not abide by the rights of slavery. This reaction hurt him in the election.

Lincoln made a comparison two years after the split speech in the House of Representatives, comparing slaves with Satan in Connecticut Hartford 64. Satan's possession system is more subtle and powerful. Lincoln implied that slavery is the devil who must eventually be kicked out of the United States. Actually, it is.
