This book was published by HarperCollins on August 3, 2010 and was ranked # 1 in the New York Times best-selling children's chapter for 7 consecutive weeks. Most of this book was written by the fourth person named after John Smith. As the story begins, he and his guardian, or Cepang, Henry, learn about the death of the third person, assuming John Smith, a new identity, and move to Ohio's heaven. There, John and collaborative theorist Sam Goode became friends and adopted a dog named "Bernie Kosar" adopted. He will also meet a photographer, classmate Sarah Hart. Former football player, Mark James, is a bully who tortures John and Sam.

This novel is about John Smith, a foreigner from the planet Lorient. He and the other eight aliens were sent to Earth while they were children, and escaped from the destruction of their planet 's Mogodo people to find their source of mythical power. Mogodorians found them last and chased them to the earth to wipe out the entire population of Loric, but there was a problem. Due to the fugitive's fascination, they were only killed in a specific order from 1 to 9. Years later, when the story began, John lived in Ohio 's heaven, and the first three were killed.
