H & M and its competitors are part of the retail apparel industry known as fast fashion. This is characterized by being able to provide services to affordable consumers who need the latest style. In order to maintain competitiveness in this segment and to maintain efficient internal operations to meet industry requirements, retailers need to meet the expectations of some specific customers.

Hennes & Mauritz (H & M) is a Swedish multinational retail clothing company. Established in 1947 when Erling Persson opened its first store in Vasteras, Sweden. It is the second largest clothing retailer in the world. Their management philosophy is to provide fashion and quality at the best price. H & M has grown into a world leading fashion company. The company has more than 116,000 employees in 53 countries and 3,132 stores. Instead of owning a factory, H & M entrusts production to approximately 900 independent suppliers, mainly in Asia and Europe. These facilities are used for horizontal division of labor rather than integration. Many of their products are produced in some of the poorest countries in the world and are not a bad thing because it creates millions of jobs in developing countries.

In 2016, H & M opened 427 new stores. 427 stores! It is close to 17 shops a day. This fast-fashion retailer has more than 160,000 employees in 62 countries and continues to develop excellent business on the body and the web. Believe it or not, as Zara is planning to grow rapidly, H & M will not be the cornerstone of brand expansion. As of the end of 2017, Zara developed a blueprint for 500 new stores. This rapid expansion is a common way among many competitors in the industry, as this area is essential to achieving healthy presence in the market.
