The story of the Fishersville medical, educational, vocational complex

During the Second World War, a large military hospital was built near the Fishers' building, after which a world famous rehabilitation facility, a high school in Augusta County, and a vocational training school were built. An extraordinary cooperative community. This complex story and the stories of those who live or remember it are all talked about in a new book and video called "hope of rebirth". The story and video will be airing at 6:30 pm. On Tuesday, December 13, the Augusta County Historical Society was held at the Francis Auditorium of Mary Baldwin College. This event is open to the public free of charge.
The books and videos written and produced by local historian Nancy Sorrels and producer Connie Doebele were featured in hundreds of students, staff and others at the Wilson Labor and Rehabilitation Center last month. The December 13 event brought this special story to the wider Augusta County audience.
The program will introduce the story of Woodrow Wilson General Hospital of Fishersville and the evolution of Wilson Labor and Rehabilitation Center, Woodrow Wilson Memorial High School, Wilson Middle School, Wilson Elementary School and Valley Career for 70 years. At the technical center. This story includes dramatic stories from wartime hospitals and close communities developed there when major facilities were diverted to major rehabilitation facilities and Augusta County Educational Complex.
The story is told in an interview with complex people and people who share life, people passing through it are totally shown in pictures and memories. This book was written by local historians, writers, and Nancy Soreles, a member of the board of directors of ACCS. This video was produced by Connie Doebele, former executive producer at C - Span and currently residing in Staunton. This book and video were funded by the Central Blue Ridge Community Foundation Carol and Grace "Patzie" Gin Memorial Fund.
