The History of FFA

FFA is familiar to most people in the world today. Today there are 7,570 branches in all 50 states, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, totaling 579,678 FFA members are 12 to 21 years old. All of these started with the "State Experts Law" which began to provide educational curriculum to the state in 1917. Then in 1925, Virginia Tech agricultural education teacher educators Henry Groseclose, Harry Sanders and Edmund C. Magill, and Virginia agricultural education director Walter Newman got together to talk about agricultural class male student organizations.
From the small rural areas in central Ohio, during high school there was a chance to participate in the national FFA organization. The letter "FFA" stands for future American farmers. These letters are part of our history and heritage and will never change. But FFA is not only suitable for students who want to be farmers, but also welcomes the desire to become a farmer as teacher, doctor, scientist, business owner and so on. Therefore, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after the National Convention voted to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the agricultural industry. "- FFA website
