Review of Dawn by Octavia Butler

Dawn is a woman woke up on an alien spaceship after the majority of the earth has been destroyed by nuclear war for centuries. Oankali accepts survivors, but they are savior or kidnappers are ambiguous. In any case, humans have no choice about this problem.
Dawn is a good book, which has lots to consider. This book does not apply to me. It can hardly be said. Perhaps this is because most of the book deals with the intersection of sex, power, and breeding. As I said before - important things. But that means that I have somewhat of what is called a "strange alien sex". Plots and themes are absolutely necessary, but this is not something I like to read.
Dawn is generally not a comfortable reading (this is the point). Most of it includes ideas that are helpless and controlled by others. Lilith does not actually have control or choice. She totally comes to the hands of Oankali and Oankali treats her like an independent person with rights. She is like a tool, or at most it is just a beloved family pet.
But Lilith still has power. She is flexible and smart. She is thinking about her inner resistance and her ambition to run away. Indeed, she is still wise and ultimately goes well, it's a miracle
I'd really like to know how LGBT people apply to this situation, but they are totally absent because this book was published in the 1980s. Alternatively, Oankali may not have abandoned any punishment, as it does not match the reproductive goal of foreigners. This may eventually be solved, but I do not want it
I recommend this, but I can not say anyone. If you want to read dawn, you need to prepare quite dark books dealing with some of the problems. If you pick it up you will find a story of well-written science fiction about gender and oppression. Indeed, this is probably on the classic list.
I have never read SF. Believe it or not, I have not seen Star Trek. Octavia Butler Thank you. For the dawn, I am currently interested in fantasy and science fiction. From the first sentence, Octavia Butler 's Dawn could not stop reading. When I read her novel, my mind had many themes. The main character is Lilith. Lilith 's life reminds me of changes and readjustments to new ideas, places, and aliens known as people, in this case Olinka. Lilith quickly became a portrayal of a strong woman. She is definitely a survivor
