6c. The Growth of Slavery

New York's Dutch colony, New Amsterdam, received the first batch of slaves directly from Africa in 1655.

People in Africa are immigrants to the New World in the UK, and their destinations and fates have no choice. The first African American who arrived in Jamestown on a Dutch trade ship in 1619 was not a slave and was not free. Until their duties are completed, they will serve as servants of the covenant. These lucky people live as free people in the rest of my life, but this is rare in the past few decades. England's mother was completely devoid of the slave tradition, but slavery gradually replaced contract slavery as the main means of planting labor in the former South.

Virginia will be the first British colony to legally establish slavery in 1661. Maryland and Carolina State will continue soon. The southern colony which began to resist slavery was Georgia, an enlightening experiment. After 17 years from establishment, Georgia succumbed to the pressure of its own people and abolished the ban on slavery in Africa. In these areas the law passed soon and condemned all children of African slaves to have lifelong bondage

There are no slaves in the north or central colony. From Puritan to Quaker Pennsylvania, Africans live in slavery. Economics and geography do not promote the demand for slave imports like the southern part of the plantation. As a result, the slave population is still few compared to the southern neighbor countries. Laws throughout the region acknowledge the existence of slavery, but that is not systematic. Slaves acquire more freedom, and in Pennsylvania in particular, the opposition to institutions is more common.

Imports are increasing, as British colonialists are convinced that Africans can best meet their labor demand. By the turn of the 18th century, thousands of African slaves in British colonies reached tens of thousands. Prior to the first shot of Lexington and Concord, their total reached hundreds of thousands. The demands of freedom of colonial leaders after that proved to be only the white whine cry.

There are defenders of other slavery. And it claims that institutions are doomed to immature labor by guaranteeing white people's equity by interfering with the growth of the class. Like the northern people, they insist that they are committed to the ideals of freedom. They argue that black slavery is the most reliable thing to guarantee 'white equality' of white man. Slavery enabled considerable economic autonomy (free social conditions), welcoming not only producers but also non-slave whites. Because of slavery, parliamentarians insisted that the white southern people are "independent" like "birds cutting the air". Because independence is essential for citizenship, slavery is the "foundation stone" of our republic's building.

Essex sociologist Robin Blakeburn showed a new role in the mining capitalist economy in slavery growth in "slaverying the new world". Huge profits of slavery was accumulated in 'triangular trade' between Europe, Africa and the United States and contributed directly to the industrialization of Britain. Slave trade across the Atlantic is an indispensable driving force in emerging mining world systems, the emergence of the British Empire. Mechanization of cotton fibers originally produced in American farms was promoted mainly by British industrialization.
