The diversified colonial Dutch was one of the first Europeans who settled in New York. Later, immigrants came from the UK, Sweden, Scotland and Germany. Many immigrants earn money through the skills they have learned in Europe. There are things that make things such as furniture and tools. Skilled workers teach young apprentices. Women can possess property, but they can not vote or hold the position of the government. Many Native Americans have lost land to settlers and left the area. Slave Africans are regarded as property without fundamental rights. They can sell separately from their families. Free blacks are not allowed to vote and some people can not possess land.
