· ACS Behavior Research Center - Established in 1994, its main job is to conduct high quality independent research in areas specifically related to social goals, including prevention, detection and screening, treatment, survival and termination. - Life problems It also focuses on eliminating cancer differences (cancer risk and treatment inequality) in specific populations, such as ethnic minorities, poor people, rural populations, and other poor people. This research is designed to help understand factors that affect behavior. Prevention, management and recovery of cancer
· ACS Epidemiology and Monitoring Division - I have been doing research and cancer data analysis over 60 years. Here are some examples.
· Annual Cancer Facts and Data - These data have been published and used to enhance scientific evidence of cancer management that can be published at www.cancer.org.
· The American Cancer Society (ACS) is the largest source of funds for cancer researchers in the private nonprofit research community in the United States, and the funds mainly focus on peer-reviewed sponsored initiatives. In this process we propose a project that scientists believe that they can solve with existing knowledge and techniques, rather than working with projects designed from administrators far away from the forefront. This freedom of knowledge encourages scientists to find discoveries in areas most likely to solve cancer problems. The Association offers grants in the following areas.
· Institute research grant - use of institutional grants as a "seed fund" to start the project through commitment to junior researchers
According to the American Cancer Society, about 11.4 million Americans have cancer history in 2010. In the United States, the death of one in four people is due to cancer. The mortality rate of males in 2010 was 229.9 people per 100,000 people and the mortality rate of women was 157.8 persons per 100,000 people. The incidence of men is 556.5 per 100,000 people and 414,000 per 100,000 in women. In the United States, lung cancer is the most common cause of male and female cancer death. (Source: American Cancer Society). Benign tumors are abnormally proliferating and are no longer normally regulated. They proliferate slowly, resemble normal cells, and are not cancerous. They grow only in one place and can not spread or invade other parts of the body. But when you press important organs, they become harmful. Examples of benign tumors include skin spasms, lipomas, and hepatomas
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women in the United States. Every year in the United States, lung cancer accounts for 28% of all cancer deaths. In 2013, about 228,190 new cases of lung cancer were diagnosed in the United States. According to ACS, the one-year survival rate of lung cancer is 44%. However, when all stages of lung cancer were combined, the 5-year survival rate fell to 16%. Only 15% of lung cancer is diagnosed in local stage
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), approximately 4 million basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas are diagnosed each year in the United States. ACS estimates that approximately 76,380 melanomas (the most deadly skin cancer) are diagnosed in the United States in 2016 and more than 10,000 Americans die from melanoma. According to ACS and National Cancer Institute (NCI) data, the incidence of new melanoma cases continues to increase every year. According to the warning of the CDC (Disease Control and Prevention Center), it is scientifically proven that tanning is not a safe sunburn. Tanning bed radiates ultraviolet (UV) like the sun. Ultraviolet rays are known to cause skin cancer by destroying DNA of skin cells. And, as NCI emphasizes, not only those who have fair skin but also everyone is vulnerable.
