The American presidential election in 1796 was the third presidential election for the third time. It was held from Friday, November 4th until Wednesday, 7th December 1796. This is the first controversial US presidential election, the first presidential election in which the party played the leading role, and presidential and vice presidential elections elected from blacks. However, Thomas Jefferson was appointed vice president, Thomas Pinkney won third place in the presidential election. The emergence of political parties and nationally coordinated campaigns quickly complicated the elections in 1796 and 1800. Federal candidate John Adams won the presidential election in 1796. Secondly, Republican candidate Thomas Jefferson, who is an opponent of the Democratic Party - Federal party and later became vice president. This brought the president and the vice president to become different parties. In 1800, the Democratic Republican Party appointed Jefferson again as President and appointed Aaron Bar as Vice President. After the election, Jefferson and Burr were tied together, and there were 73 election votes for each. Because voting does not distinguish between presidential vote and vice presidential voting, all votes to Burr are technically considered to vote for him to become the president.
