Speaking of natural disasters, this year was the year of record books. Fire is out of control. Hurricanes, earthquakes, floods destroyed the entire community. Landslides can also cause dangerous confusion

Due to the highest number of disasters ever, we recorded a record high this year when we received the Whitaker Prize. 32

Whitaker Prize winners will be nominated by their colleagues and will do their utmost to provide services in extreme situations or to avoid disasters. Since its founding 10 years ago, the Whitaker Prize is our highest honor.

In the past ten years, Liz and I have operated a nationwide long-term disaster recovery organization, SBP. Meanwhile, we witnessed how Americans solved the problem through volunteering and contributions, and answered the phone after the earthquake. In the US, ten years after Hurricane Katrina, there are still people in New Orleans who left their homes. However, the citizens want the Nepal and West Africa communities to recover from the earthquake and Ebola outbreak within a year. The scope of these crises is also clear. For example, when the world focused on Ebola's treatment, I talked to women in Sierra Leone and Liberia, "I am sick and my child died of malaria and diarrhea." I am facing a continuous health crisis. Maternal and child death rates are very high and another crisis emerges. After the school is closed, girls are in danger at home
