In order to record data, I have created a custom application that continuously records telephone reception of two major carriers AT & T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon at 2 second intervals. Since each mobile phone can record only one carrier at a time, our data logger consists of four iPhones 5S, all housed neatly in a shieldless case.

In two weeks our data logger scanned the entire subway system (once in either direction) to capture this unique dataset. It takes some time to plan the recorder route. Since several lines use the same track in a part of the route, these parts need to be measured only once (for example, 1, 2, 3 trains use 59 cent Columbus circle and 96 cents).

After 2 weeks of data collection, we verify our results by calculating the correlation between two way trains to ensure that our measurements are accurate.

We clean up the data, remove the error, and extract the data into different datasets for each row. This includes measurements from the four major carriers (AT & T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint).

These loggers are credit card sizes and are not a substitute for precious pharmaceutical payloads.
