Reading aloud also brings joy; readers of all ages report that teacher's reading is their best memory of elementary school (Artley, 1975). The 1985 "Become a Reader Country" report states that reading aloud is the most important thing the school can offer to build the knowledge necessary for future reading. Reading loudly is not luxurious; they are the cornerstone of effective literacy instruction. What unnecessary teaching methods can be done to open up this time?
