In the 1930 's, the administration' s federal writer project 's work interviewed 2,000 former slaves as part of a greater overall effort to document the amazing history of the United States' diverse population.
These interviews were the foundation of the book by the new HBO documentary - Unchained Memories - and the corresponding Henry Louis Gates and Spencer Crew. Documentary began broadcasting on a fee-based cable television network on February 10 as part of the nationwide effort to commemorate the month of the black history.
Several renowned actors offered more than 40 first person narrative voices to fill the documentary. This book adds more stories
One of the narrator is Alfre Woodard who is familiar with both large screen and small screen. In the early 1980's, she focused on the main parts of popular TV shows such as St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, and L. A. Law. She caught a glimpse of the Grand Canyon, Passionfish and Spikree 's Crook Rin and made a speech about many of the past close - ups and documentaries in black history.
When Woodard told Scott Simon of NPR about the work of Unchained Memories it was clear that this experience had an impact on her.
"Some people love these children as much as I love children," she said. "They saw them put in sinks - the same pigs were given ... If I were born at another time, my smart children will eat like this. "
Woodard pointed out that many of the same children continue doing extraordinary things. They became writers of Harlem Renaissance, helped legislators who changed the American policy, and the doctor did the first successful cardiac surgery
"This is our money," Woodard said. "We need to incorporate the history of African Americans into American history."
"Slavery" is everywhere, such as "amistad", "glory", "loved". There are also television documentaries such as "Memories Without Chain" and "Making Slavery and America". Almost all major museums have exhibitions on slavery, and we are planning a new museum dedicated to this theme. The two presidents, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, were very different in constituencies, but they visited Goa's West African slave laboratory and saw "no return". Congress asked the National Park Service to settle slavery in all civil war battlefields and federal and state courts ruled out many cases of profits derived from slave labor centuries ago. In today's history book slavery is the basis for understanding the past and nearly all the universities in the country offer courses on this theme. The book was abandoned by the press and more than 75 books were published in the past year
Django Unchained is undoubtedly one of the most bold and unique films about American slavery. Many of the ideas proposed for Django Unchained bring certain effects to them, but it is important to remember that the production of this movie is quite different from most movies depicting slavery. The movie chosen by Tarantino is not something that other filmmakers did. He did not make history the correctness and political correctness the main focus of this movie. It defeats the true purpose of the movie, tells stories and starts talking. By making another slave movie, Tarantino hits the audience in different ways, opens up a new way of discussion, carelessly draws American slavery violence, and movie enthusiasts see it I made a movie that forgave me. A movie about the role of slavery that gives power. Recover his reasons
