"Mother vs. Son" is a poem written from the mother's and son's point of view. She told her son for the first time that life was not a stairway of crystal, but a stud and a piece, all the planks were removed and there were no carpets even in some places. The mother said she said she climbed the stairs and turned and sometimes it got dark or even turned back. She kept going up the stairs and said she still had climbed the stairs by herself.

"Mother to Son" is a poem about advice from mother to son. This poem tells us how difficult life is, but we can not look back. We must overcome that difficulty. We must keep on living our lives. Langston Hughes, born in 1902, was a famous poet of Harlem Renaissance. His poetry is not personal, it is spoken to all African Americans. From affectionate mother to son, in this poem, everything is important, through repeated words, metaphor and image.

As explained in the first two answers, the extended metaphor is a metaphor through most or all literary works. In the poem by Langston Hughes's "Mother and Child", Langston Hughes has battled the struggle of his mother's life with courage. In the introduction of this poem, the mother explained to his son that the mother of this poem compared his life with all dishonorable things. First, she compares her life with the stairs of the crystal. Crystals are considered beautiful, pure, transparent and worthwhile. Mother explained that her life is not these things. She also showed a simple life full of debris and broken boards. However, Langston Hughes also showed that his mother refused to give up and stop. And as shown below, even unknown ones can prove this.
