"Environmental Impact in the Gold Rush Era" was curated and written by the University of California in 2005.

The images in this group show mine, work miner workers, and tools they use. They also show the effects of mining and mining on the landscape of California. The river was obstructed or blocked by earth and sand, the forest was cut down and the land was torn to provide the necessary timber.

Mining also requires a large amount of timber to fuel both the mine boiler and the large canal system. This demand for timber helped in the creation of the logging industry. California's forest has plenty of trees available for registration, many of which are large. Photographer Carleton E. Watkins is known for his image of the magnificent landscape in the west. He was the first person to capture Yosemite in the movie and helped countries and the world people shape what they think about California. He took a lot of landscape photos of this group. Watkins also created a stereo view that includes images of Malakov Diggins using the new technology of the time.

Daguerreotype: A unique image created on silver plated copper. Daguerreotypes was named after its creator, French commercial artist, Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre, who discovered the process in 1837.

Stereo view: A new form of entertainment in the mid-19th century. Pictures of these people and places look stereoscopic when you see them and you can "travel" without leaving the house. The technique is very simple: two nearly identical pictures on the card are printed next to each other, and these pictures provide a slightly different view of the same scene. Through the stereo viewer (simple mobile device) you can create 3D effects.

The California Gold Rush (1848 - 1855) began on January 24, 1848 when James W Marshall discovered gold at the Satter in the Coloma of California. Gold news brought about 300,000 people from California to other parts of the United States and abroad. Sudden gold influx into gold supply has revitalized the US economy and the sudden increase in the population quickly put California in the state of the state with a compromise of 1850. Goldrush has serious consequences for Aborigines in California, resulting in a drastic reduction in illness, genocide and hunger. When it was over, by 1856, California from the less populous former Mexican territory California, John Fremont, one of the first two US Senators, elected the first Republican presidential candidate it was done.
