The British Council is an international organization for cultural exchange and educational opportunities in the UK. We build friendly knowledge and understanding between British people and people from other countries. We accomplish this by making positive contributions to the countries Britain and us cooperate by creating opportunities, building connections and building trust to change our lives.

We are active in arts and culture, English, education, and civil society in over 100 countries worldwide. Last year, we directly covered more than 75 million people and 7.58 million people, including online, through radio and publications. Founded in 1934, we are a British charity that is managed by the Royal Charter and British public authorities.

Our English work is designed to provide high quality linguistic materials to all learners and teachers who desire them. In developing countries and post-conflict countries, we teach English through radio, internet, television broadcasting and train teachers. Take over 3 million UK exams worldwide to help people gain reliable qualifications to support their careers and learning prospects.

Our education and social efforts will help change the people's educational system, build a more comprehensive and open society, and increase opportunities for young people. We encourage foreign students to study in the UK and encourage British students to experience abroad living. We will make schools around the world one and let young people and teachers from different countries learn from each other.

Our work in art includes the highest of British and international art talent. We will help increase the audience for the international work of the UK and the global British work. We collect artists to support the development of skills and policies in the arts and creative industries. Through this research, we ensure that the culture in the broadest sense plays an important role in linking and understanding each other.

In this way, the British Council has built a connection with people and institutions around the world, built trust and helped build the foundation for prosperity and safety around the world.
